Founder
A great safari isn’t about looking at animals through a window. It’s about feeling the heartbeat of the wild alongside someone who has called it home their entire life. As a professional safari guide with a background in Environmental Science, Francis built the company from the ground up. His deep-rooted expertise in habitat dynamics and upscale hospitality ensures that every itinerary maximizes wildlife viewing while maintaining a light ecological footprint.
Founded in January 2017 by Mr. Obedgiu Francis, Angara Tours and Travel was born out of a desire to replace rigid, corporate tours with genuine insider access. Raised in Pakwach, at the northern gates of Murchison Falls, Francis spent his childhood tracking elephant herds and reading the rhythms of the Nile.
Today, we are a fully licensed boutique agency (UTB/RTT/TO/2022/100350), but our soul remains intimate. Francis still personally drives our custom 4x4 vehicles, guiding travelers away from crowded tour buses and straight into raw, unvarnished wilderness. Whether navigating hidden savanna trails or securing exclusive Bwindi gorilla permits, our local footprint transforms a standard holiday into a lifelong connection.
With Angara, you aren’t buying a generic itinerary. You are stepping into Francis’s world—and we can’t wait to welcome you home.
From the banks of the Nile to your private safari vehicle:
True luxury leaves a lasting positive footprint. When you book a safari with Angara Tours and Travel, a designated percentage of your tour revenue goes directly toward funding transparent, community-led projects in the Pakwach and Murchison regions.
The Amor Village Women's Craft & Economic Initiative
We partner with the indigenous women of Amor village, located along the park's buffer zone. By funding raw materials and providing a marketplace for their handmade woven crafts and textiles, we help local women secure independent incomes. This project provides financial stability for rural families and significantly lowers their economic reliance on forest resources.
Snare-to-Art Youth Rehabilitation Program
This unique initiative transforms tools of destruction into beautiful symbols of conservation. We pay local youth to collect illegal wire snares from the park boundaries alongside Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. We then employ local artisans to retrain these young adults, teaching them to transform the confiscated wire into high-end wildlife sculptures sold to art collectors worldwide. This project turns former poachers into active park protectors.
